Free CSV Fixer for Excel
Fix CSV encoding and separators locally. Preview broken rows and download Excel with leading zeros and long IDs preserved as text.
Excel table to text
Paste a spreadsheet range or choose CSV/TSV, then copy or download separated text. Native .xlsx/.xls files are not supported; paste the displayed range instead.
1. Paste a range or choose a file
Choose a file instead of pasting
No table selected. Paste a range or choose a CSV/TSV file.
2. Choose your output
Quoting preserves embedded separators and line breaks by default. Formula protection changes cell text; the count is shown below. Pasting copies displayed values, not workbook formulas, formatting or calculation logic.
Paste formats and merged cells
Plain text is preferred. If the clipboard supplies HTML only, the first table is read locally without inserting it into the page. A merged cell's text appears once; continuation cells are blank. Leading zeroes and long IDs stay as text.
Paste a range to begin.

What the result means
Compare the original source with the approved output before downloading. The tool suggests reversals of saved UTF-8 text misread as Windows-1252 or Latin-1, including multiple encoding layers. Each suggestion starts pending: approve it to change that cell, or reject it to keep the original. Select which Excel columns stay text; risky columns are recommended automatically. Unselected columns convert only plain numbers with at most fifteen digits, while leading zeros, longer identifiers, date-like codes and formula strings remain protected. Switch the comparison between Excel cell values and types or CSV text, including optional apostrophe prefixes. Malformed rows block exports. CSV cannot declare column types, and no repair can reconstruct digits or characters already lost.

Questions
Can I convert an Excel table to plain text?
Yes. Paste a range in Excel table to text and choose tab, comma or pipe output. Review formula protection, embedded line breaks and any blank padding before copying or downloading. Native XLSX uploads are not supported; paste the displayed range or export CSV/TSV first.
Does my CSV leave the browser?
No. Decoding, parsing, diagnosis and both downloads happen locally. File contents and names are never included in analytics.
Why does my CSV open in one column?
The file separator may differ from Excel's expected separator. Choose the matching input separator, inspect the columns, then download XLSX or import CSV with the separator explicitly selected.
How do I preserve leading zeros and long IDs?
Review the recommended text columns and download Excel. Selected columns remain text; leading-zero values and long digit strings are also protected from unsafe number conversion in unselected columns. Previously lost digits cannot be reconstructed.
Can quoting CSV prevent scientific notation?
No. CSV quotes delimit fields; they do not declare a text type. Use the Excel download or import the CSV with identifier columns explicitly set to Text.
Can this fix garbled CSV characters?
Choose the correct encoding for original bytes, or review proposed reversals of saved UTF-8 text misread as Windows-1252 or Latin-1. Approve changes individually or in bulk. Rejected and pending suggestions keep the original; replacement characters cannot be recovered.
Can amounts stay numeric in Excel?
Yes. Leave amount columns unchecked to convert plain numbers with at most fifteen digits to numeric cells. The Excel comparison shows their resulting values and types. Select a column to keep its exact text instead.
Why are the download buttons disabled?
Analyze the current source first. Malformed quotes and inconsistent column counts must be corrected before downloading. Some Excel cell limits block only XLSX export; CSV can still be available.
