Supply both authoritative exports
Upload the source collection CSV and an export of the referenced collection. The target must contain explicit name and slug columns with unique slugs. Files stay on this device.
The checker focuses on references and basic CSV structure. It cannot look up missing records online or validate every Webflow field type.
Confirm the reference field type
Choose the actual reference column. Distinguish single references from multi-reference cells. Multi-reference imports use semicolons; a comma within a single name is not permission to create two references.
Webflow derives slugs from plain text names, so custom target slugs need exact values. Similar spelling is a suggestion, not proof that the referenced person or category is correct.
Approve each intended replacement
Suggested replacements start unchecked. Compare them with the target collection and approve only intended matches. The original file stays unchanged.
The recording fixture includes an Unknown Contributor with no authoritative match. Leave it unresolved until the content owner supplies the intended target. Do not choose a plausible author just to enable download.
Recheck the candidate and import result
The candidate is checked against the target export after approved replacements. Unmatched references block download even if Webflow might import an optional reference as blank. Malformed or shifted CSV rows also block processing.
Inspect the CSV and audit, then confirm Webflow field mapping and its actual import result. Importing collection items does not itself confirm that content is published.

Frequently asked questions
Does passing guarantee a successful import?
No. Confirm the actual import result and account settings in the destination platform after reviewing the candidate.
Is the original file changed?
No. The original remains unchanged. Candidate files are separate downloads and source decisions must be made deliberately.
Are file contents uploaded to a server?
No. Parsing, checks and candidate generation run locally without sending your file contents to the platform.
