Password Strength Checker
Check password strength in the browser. The password never leaves the page.

What the result means
The score starts at zero and stays on this device. Eight or more characters add one point, and twelve or more add another. Three or more classes, chosen from lower case, upper case, digits, and symbols, add a third point. A fourth point is given only when the text is at least sixteen characters and uses all four classes. A character repeated three times in a row takes a point away. So does any of these sequences, matched in any case: abc, 123, qwerty, and the word password. The total is clamped from 0 to 4 and labelled Very weak, Weak, Fair, Strong, or Very strong. This is a reading of shape. It does not search leaked passwords, and a high score is not proof the password is unique.

Questions
Does this check leaked passwords?
No. This does not check leaked passwords. It only scores the shape of what you typed, on this device.
What is a strong password?
Here, a strong password is long, mixes character classes, and avoids repeats and sequences such as abc, 123, qwerty, and the word password. Being unused elsewhere matters too, and this page cannot see that.
Why did the score drop?
A run of the same character three times, or a sequence such as abc, 123, qwerty, or password, removes a point even when the rest looks varied.
