Whois Lookup

Look up registrar, nameservers and expiry for a domain using RDAP.

Results appear here.

What the result means

Paste a domain or a URL. The page keeps only the host name and sends it to the Worker, which requests https://rdap.org/domain/ for that name. The registry's RDAP record supplies the registrar, the status values, the registration, change, and expiry events, and the nameservers. A 404 from the registry is reported as not found. That often means the name is unregistered. It is not proof a registrar will sell it to you, because some names are reserved or registered in a registry this lookup does not cover. Privacy services hide the registrant on purpose. This page does not invent a person or a company to fill that gap. The Worker rate-limits this route more tightly than the other checks, about ten requests a minute.

Questions

Why is the owner hidden?

Most registrars redact the registrant in the public RDAP record. A privacy service or a legal redaction is a normal result. This page does not guess the missing name.

Does not found mean I can register it?

No. Not found means this RDAP lookup did not see a registration. The name can still be reserved, premium, or listed in a registry the redirect did not reach. Check a registrar before you treat it as available.

Why might the expiry be blank?

Some registries omit the expiration event, or the RDAP response uses a different event the mapper does not claim to understand. A blank date means the field was absent, not that the domain never expires.
