What the result means
The checker compares your proposed Google Business Profile bulk update CSV against a current location export in this browser, matching rows by Store code. Google's bulk upload documentation states that including a column heading with blank cells underneath it can delete existing information in that column, and recommends omitting columns you do not intend to update. This tool flags blank cells that replace live values, completely empty columns, missing or duplicate Store codes, new location codes, and changes to verification-sensitive fields such as business name, street address, phone number, website, and opening hours. By default, the reviewed CSV includes only the Store code column and columns with non-blank updates, while restoring current export values where an included column has an accidental blank cell. Passing these checks does not guarantee Google acceptance.
| Check | Why it matters | Reviewed CSV behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Blank field replacing existing value | Warns about unintended deletion when an included column has an empty cell for a location | Omits all-blank columns by default and restores live values in partially updated columns unless you explicitly choose to keep blanks |
| Business code missing or duplicated | Identifies ambiguous location updates that can overwrite the wrong store or fail import | Blocks export until every row has a unique Store code in both files |
| Business name or category changed | Flags core identity modifications that frequently trigger Google re-verification | Highlights exact before/after text for manual sign-off |
| Address, phone or website changed | Verifies customer-facing contact details and checks URL and phone syntax | Includes the column only when changed and flags malformed URLs or phone strings |
| Opening hours changed | Confirms intended weekday or special schedules | Checks against standard HH:MM-HH:MM or Closed syntax |
| New or unknown business code | Identifies possible typos in a Store code or unintended new location creation | Lets you include or exclude unmatched Store codes before download |

Questions
Do blank cells in a Google Business Profile bulk upload delete existing data?
Yes. Google's official bulk upload documentation states that if you include a column heading in your spreadsheet with no information underneath it, existing information in that column can be deleted. Google recommends omitting columns that you are not updating and keeping only the Store code column plus the fields you intend to change.
How does the reviewed CSV prevent accidental deletions?
First, it automatically unchecks columns that have no changes or are completely blank in your update sheet so those column headings are omitted from the upload. Second, if you update a column for one location but leave that same column blank for another location, safe mode restores the existing value from your current export so the second location's data is not wiped.
What if I actually want to clear a field across my locations?
Select the column in the column list, switch the blank-cell handling option to Keep blank cells as written, and tick the confirmation box acknowledging that blank cells in included columns can delete live values in Google Business Profile.
Does my location list or client spreadsheet leave the browser?
No. Both CSV files are decoded, parsed and compared locally in your browser using JavaScript. No store codes, business names, addresses, or file names are sent to a server.
Why does the tool highlight business name, address, phone and category changes?
Modifying core identity fields such as Business name, street address, Primary phone, Website, or Primary category can trigger re-verification or manual review in Google Business Profile. Reviewing those changes separately from routine hours or description updates helps prevent unexpected profile suspensions.
What happens if a Store code has leading zeros like 00421?
All cells and Store codes are parsed and exported as quoted text strings without numeric coercion. Leading zeros and long numeric identifiers are preserved exactly as written in your CSV.
