Favicon Generator
Make a simple letter favicon and download a PNG.

What the result means
The canvas fills a square with the background colour, then draws the letters in the foreground colour, centred. Two sizes are available: 32 pixels for a small tab icon and 180 pixels for a larger shortcut image. Download gives a PNG of that single square. It is not an ICO file, and it does not pack several sizes into one container. To use it, save the PNG beside your pages and add a link element whose rel is icon and whose href points at the file. Browsers cache icons for a long time, so a renamed file or a hard refresh is sometimes needed before the tab updates. The letter box keeps two characters at most. The colours are read from the form on this page, and nothing is uploaded.

Questions
What size should a favicon be?
32 pixels suits a browser tab. 180 pixels suits a larger shortcut or touch icon. This tool downloads one of those sizes at a time.
Is this an ico file?
No. This is a PNG of a single square. It is not an ico file and it is not a multi-size container.
How do I link the PNG?
Save the file and add a link element with rel=icon pointing at that PNG. This page does not edit your site.
