Client-Side PDF Tools — Compare, Merge, Split and Reorder
Compare PDF text, images, layout and page order locally. Inspect visual overlays, annotations and form changes, or merge, split and rotate PDF pages.
Compare two PDFs
Find text, image and layout changes, then inspect pages that were added, removed or moved. Files stay on this device.
1. Choose your files
Up to 200 pages and 50 MB per file. Scans can be compared visually; OCR is not included.
Text comparison options
These options affect text only. Visual and annotation changes remain visible. Skipping lines can hide meaningful text.
2. Compare and review
Choose an original and revised PDF.
Document metadata changes
Inspect a page pair
Automatic matching uses identical rendered pages first, then text similarity. Image-only changes may appear as separate inserted/removed pages. Choose any pair below to inspect uncertain matches.
How to interpret visual changes
Each page is rendered at up to 900 pixels on its longest edge, so very small details can be missed. Results use exact rendered-pixel comparisons. Highlight sensitivity affects the mask only, not the page result. Highlights show regions, not a count of changed image objects. Text extraction order can differ from reading order; signatures are not verified.

Results
What the result means
Compare mode extracts text and annotation data and renders each page locally with PDF.js. Identical rendered pages are matched across positions, then text similarity suggests matches for changed pages. Results distinguish text, appearance, size/rotation, annotation and document-metadata differences. Inspect uncertain pairs with side-by-side previews, overlays or pixel highlights. The assembly workspace separately uses pdf-lib to combine original pages in your selected order. File contents are not uploaded. Comparison checks the rendered appearance rather than the identity of embedded image objects. A scanned page can have visual differences even when no text is extractable. Download the JSON report to retain the settings, original page references and extracted text for review.

Questions
Can I compare PDF images, layout and page order as well as text?
Yes. Compare mode checks rendered appearance, extracted text, page size and rotation, annotations and form values. It matches identical pages across positions to identify reordering and offers manual pairing, overlays and visual highlights for uncertain matches.
Can comparison read text in scanned PDFs or verify signatures?
Scanned pages are compared visually without OCR. Visual comparison uses up to 900 pixels on the longest page edge and may miss tiny details. It does not verify digital signatures, prove semantic equivalence or count embedded image objects.
Are my PDF documents uploaded to your servers?
No. PageUtil processes your PDF files entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly and client-side JavaScript. Your files never leave your computer or touch our servers.
Can I split a PDF and extract only specific pages?
Yes. After loading your PDF, simply uncheck the pages you do not want or click the remove button. The downloaded PDF will contain only the checked pages in your chosen order.
How do I change the page order across multiple PDFs?
Load multiple PDF files at once. Every page appears as a card in the visual grid. Use the left and right arrow buttons to move pages into your desired reading sequence before downloading.
Does rotating pages reduce PDF quality or blur text?
No. The tool updates the structural PDF rotation metadata without re-rasterizing text or vector artwork. All fonts, crisp lines, and vector graphics remain completely intact.
What is the maximum file size supported?
Comparison supports up to 50 MB and 200 pages per document, with bounded rendering and extracted-text budgets. The assembly workspace has no fixed file-size or page-count limit; its capacity depends on your device. Use smaller batches if processing becomes slow.
