Why does Microsoft Teams Shifts reject my Excel schedule import?
The most common causes of Teams Shifts import errors are shifts exceeding 24 hours in duration, overnight shifts where the End Date was not advanced to the next calendar day, regional date mismatches (DD/MM/YYYY vs MM/DD/YYYY), renamed or reordered columns, and forgotten Microsoft sample rows (@contoso.com).
What are the maximum row and entity limits for a Teams Shifts Excel import?
Microsoft Teams Shifts supports up to 30,000 total scheduling entities per workbook, with an individual worksheet limit of 10,000 for Shifts, 10,000 for Open Shifts, and 10,000 for Time Off records.
Why do overnight shifts fail or show negative duration errors?
When an employee works an overnight shift crossing midnight (for example, 22:00 to 06:00), the End Date column must be set to the following calendar day. If Start Date and End Date are identical, Shifts calculates a negative duration or a 32-hour shift if the wrong day is typed.
Does this validator upload our employee roster or emails to a server?
No. All Excel decompression, XML worksheet parsing, and schedule validation execute locally inside your browser using JavaScript Web Workers. Zero schedule data is transmitted over the network.
