How to look up a domain's A record

You need the IPv4 address the public DNS returns. Look it up with DNS Lookup.

NOERROR with answers, NXDOMAIN, and NOERROR with zero answers are different DNS results.
NOERROR with answers, NXDOMAIN, and NOERROR with zero answers are different, and TTL is seconds.

What to run

Use DNS Lookup. DNS Lookup is DNS-over-HTTPS from the browser and does not follow CNAMEs.

How to read the result

Status NOERROR with answers means the name has A data.

NXDOMAIN means the name does not exist.

NOERROR with zero answers means the name exists but has no A record.

TTL is seconds this answer may be cached.

What to open next

Use DNS Lookup for AAAA for IPv6, and for CNAME if the A list is empty and you expected a host.

If NXDOMAIN surprises you, open Whois Lookup. Whois is RDAP: registrar, statuses, dates, and nameservers.
